God Loved Us First

God Loved Us First
Listen

We have begun the Lenten season. It is a time of remembrance and sacrifice all over the world.  Christians are reflecting on what God has done for us. The scripture that first comes to mind is John 3:16 (NIV). “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

After meditating on the scripture, we felt a sense of overwhelming thanks that God loved us first. God’s love for us led Him to make the ultimate sacrifice of His son Jesus. Romans 5:8 (NIV) states it this way, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Jesus expressed His heart with these words as he prayed to the Father, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.  Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” John 17:22-24 (NIV)

What a demonstration of God’s love! It brings us to a question. Have you ever really thought about how much God loves you? During these weeks of reflection and celebration, we want you to think on just how much God loves you.

We have provided two powerful song links. Listen to the songs while you meditate on just how much God loves you.  May it bring blessings and elevate your love towards Jesus.
