I watched a friend of mine kneading dough. She started by kneading the dough in a big container by hand, then she shaped it flat, added all kinds of herbs and spices, and finally she put it in the oven. What came out of the oven was, something wonderful full of aroma and flavor.
As God’s children, we are like that dough. We can’t always be in the same place in life. God has to shape us, and mold us, and put in the spices and flavors in our lives. God even puts in the layers of our lives, and then He puts us in the oven to make it all come together.
In the book of Jeremiah, God tells us that He is the Potter in our lives, and He shapes us. Jeremiah 18:6 (NIV)
‘He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. ‘
It is clear, that God shapes us, but what is our participation? Our participation is the choices we make. We have to choose to allow God to use us. We see in the book of Daniel, that the young prophet Daniel made a choice to follow God rather than give in to the pressures from the King. The King offered Daniel and his young friends food that was not lawful for them to eat. But they requested that they have food that was lawful for them to eat. The outcome was God’s blessing. Daniel 1:15 (NIV)
‘At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. ‘
When we choose to let God lead our lives we give Him the opportunity to shape our lives into the purpose to which He is calling us. We can live in our purpose when we choose to follow Him.
God Bless you all
