As Pastor Levi Lusko says “You can trust God’s identity or your reality” He goes on to explain, that whatever we go through, we have to view our situation with an understanding that God brings us through situations because He is greater than the situation.
We see in Daniel 6:22 (NLT) that Daniel was thrown into a Lion’s den because he refused to pray to an idol God. Daniel’s response to this challenge was to depend upon God’s faithfulness (God’s identity) to bring him through the situation. “My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.”
Daniel saw what could have been his own destruction in the Lion’s den, but he knew God’s nature, God’s faithfulness, and God’s power. We also need to point out that Daniel and his friends were young (probably teenagers at the time of these scripture) but they chose to trust God’s identity.
Daniel 3:12 (NLT) “But there are some Jews—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—whom you have put in charge of the province of Babylon. They pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the gold statue you have set up.”
How did these young men know how to respond? They simply had to remember the stories they had been taught about God’s promises. They remembered the stories of God delivering the children of Israel at the Red Sea. They remembered the stories of God feeding the children of Israel in the wilderness. So, Daniel and his friends depended upon God’s identity which never changes. God delivered the children of Israel, God delivered Daniel and his friends, and God is delivering us.

Bishop Jakes shares the story of how when God delivered the children of Israel at the Red Sea, and Miriam took her tambourine and led the children of Israel in praise for what God had done. Bishop Jakes then prayed for all of us that we will respond in praise to God in the desert of our current circumstances.
So, let’s be in praise for who God is and what He has done for all of us!
