Throughout the years, we often hear proclamations of remembrance. We hear proclamations for historical events such as Pearl Harbor Day, and Memorial Day. When we celebrate the body and blood of Jesus Christ with Communion during the Good Friday, and Easter (Resurrection Sunday) season. We are celebrating a part of a Proclamation that Jesus issued over two thousand years ago. The proclamation of Communion is still being honored to this day.
It is indeed sacred. Each time that we partake in the eating of the bread that represents Jesus’s body and drink from the cup of the new covenant which represents His blood. We proclaim our Lord’s death and that He is coming back. Commune and remember my brothers and sisters in Christ. Let the world know that Jesus is coming back again! He is not dead but He is alive! It may seem like a very simple act on whatever Sunday you take communion in your church, but it is a big deal.
Communion is a sacred act of remembrance. It is a bridge of hope to Jesus’ second coming. One of the tenets of our faith as Christians, is that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Jesus told us to proclaim that He died, and that He is coming back.
So partake in communion not just on Resurrection Day known as Easter, but as often as you can in remembrance of Jesus .“For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.”1 Corinthians 11:23-26 NLT
