Demonstrating Love in Tough Times

Demonstrating Love in Tough Times
Listen

Recently some of our close friends demonstrated love under difficult circumstances. Demonstrating love means you give of yourself, sometimes over and above your abilities or resources, and God steps in and takes care of the rest. Showing love does not mean you will always be appreciated, and sometimes you will be hated. But you have to keep showing love!

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.’ John 15:13 (KJV)

The Rev Dr. Martin Luther King shares his deep understanding for the need of agape in his book “Strength to Love”. Dr. King points out that agape is love that is concerned with going the extra mile to ensure the well-being of others.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strength_to_Love

Our friends also demonstrated a deep understanding of agape. They live in unselfish love that has inspired them to go the extra mile. Let’s follow their example, and also be inspired.

We Need Prayer and Fasting to Confront Evil

This blog is inspired by my wife Pastor June R. McIntosh, who preached a sermon this weekend to our congregation about “Why Faith?”. In the new year, we are going to examine different aspects of “Why Faith”.This is not a study questioning faith, but seeking to understand it in our lives.

The Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”
