“David continued to succeed in everything he did, for the Lord was with him. When Saul recognized this, he became even more afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David because he was so successful at leading his troops into battle.” 1 Samuel 18:14-16 NLT
“I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals beneath the forge and makes the weapons of destruction. And I have created the armies that destroy. But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Isaiah 54:16-17 NLT
Growing up with a mom who loves the Lord with all her heart and still does, she would always tell me, “Nobody can take what God has for you.” That is a powerful message to instill in your children. It is the Biblical principle stated in Isaiah 53:16-17 and is a benefit enjoyed by God’s people. Examples of this statement are all over God’s Word.
Today we continue to look at David in 1 Samuel 18:14-16. David had already been anointed by the Prophet Samuel to be the next King of Israel. That was God’s plan for his life. David trusted in God for his life, but he could not just walk into the kingdom and say, “give it to me.” He would have been killed. When God moved David into the spotlight with much success, it made him a target of King Saul’s jealousy. King Saul wanted David to die. He tried to kill David himself on different occasions and he had to flee the kingdom in order to save his life. Even In the midst of all of this adversity, David was still on track with God’s plan.
David experienced many threats to his life, but God protected him. David kept praising the Lord, praying and listening for God’s direction. He fully understood that God was in charge of his life and that “nobody can take what God has for you.” It may not be easy following God’s plan for your life, but He promised to always be with you. The Apostle Paul said, “ What can separate me from the love of God.” The answer being nothing can separate him from God’s love. He walked in God’s plan for his life. Follow David and Paul’s lead and seek God’s plan for your life. He is listening.
