Neighborhood Vision

Listen

Recently we moved to a new community. God has given us a heart to minister in the community. We have a burning desire to help the families for Christ. A vision that is guiding us and a great group of friends willing to do the work necessary to step out for Christ. But unlike a place that you have lived in awhile, we have to meet a new set of neighbors. Meeting people in a meaningful way and sharing the ups and downs of life takes time. We have to allow God to work in us as we meet new people.

Today In my studies, I was reminded that God gives us a vision and in his time it will come to pass. We should continue spending time training and building on a foundation for community service. He has placed us in a vibrant community pull of life and families. The out reach continues. We are encouraged by Apostle Paul’s letter to his friends in Philippians to work hard knowing that “God is working in you.” Remember to reach out to your neighbors knowing that God is working in you too.

Your neighbors are where you live, but also where ever you are located. The people on the bus, train, grocery store, school and where ever there is a need are your neighbors. Lest we forget, listen to Jesus’s answer to what is the most important commandment, “Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39 NLT

How great would this world truly be if we loved our neighbors as ourselves. “Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:12-13 NLT
