Elisha under the anointing of God, understood the Biblical principle of “Greater is”. He was surrounded by his enemies but looked through the Spirit and saw the armies of God. 2 Kings 6:15-17 (NIV) ‘When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. In Elisha’s day he carried the anointing and had the ability to see past the circumstances, and see into the spiritual world. Elisha saw God’s armies, and he knew had had nothing to fear and no reason to be afraid.
Spiritual vision is very important. After the resurrection, the Apostle John recognized the authority of the Holy Spirit and said, “Greater is He that is within you than He that is in the world.”(1 John 4:4). He wrote to inform us that even though we get knocked down, it does not mean that we have to stay down. Open your eyes and see that God Is! Children of God, remember that God is greater! God is stronger! He is mightier than all who would come against us. My daily prayer is “God please go before me in all situations”. I recognize that God has chosen me, that we are in relationship, He leads my life, and that I have authority given by Him and power through the Holy Spirit. Greater is my God in all things.
Make no mistake in understanding that God will lead those who choose Him. It is He who led the children of Israel out of bondage and set them free. Even though they would eventually turn from Him, He showed them love and grace by always maintaining the faithful. There were many who gave up all they had, and answered the call from Christ, “Follow me!” They were led by Him as He walked this earth. They watched His death, and ate with Him after the resurrection.
They learned that even though they were not clean in spirit, that they became righteous because He became the sacrifice for us all. By simply accepting Him they were saved. They learned that through His Holy Spirit, He would indeed continue to lead them in this Christian journey. Today, all who accept Jesus Christ as Savior are saved and led by His Holy Spirit. Romans 10:9 (NIV) ‘If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ‘
All of us would venture to say that Moses was chosen by God. We could go on and say Joshua, Queen Esther, and Apostles Peter and Paul were chosen by God. Some of these people were chosen to represent a type of Christ, others represent His compassion, and still others represent the risen Christ. However, the biggest thing to know is that Jesus Christ came for all of us. He came that all might be saved from destruction, and be restored in relationship with Him. He has given us the ability to accept Him as Lord and Savior. Those who accept Jesus Christ become God Led, and receive the gift of eternal life.
All who have become children of God have been given authority to act on His behalf. We have been commanded to go and preach the Gospel throughout the world. We have been given authority to heal the sick, and cast out demons in the powerful name of Jesus. Christ said that we would do greater things than He did while he walked the earth. Mark 16:16-18 (NIV)‘Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” ‘
Now that He has chosen you, now that He is leading your life, and now that you have the power of His authority, open your eyes to who God is. After Jesus’s resurrection, He instructed His disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit to receive the power that comes with it. (Acts 2) All who accept Christ will receive the power given by the Holy Spirit. It will lead and comfort them in all things. The Holy Spirit will give each one of us the authority to spread the Gospel of Jesus.
