Thirteen years ago, a message was shared that remains profoundly relevant today: Don’t look at “the wind.” In a world filled with constant change and uncertainty, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the storms surrounding us.But as we navigate our daily lives, we must remember where our true focus should lie.

Defining “The Wind”

In our modern context, “the wind” represents anything that threatens to pull us down or sink our faith.The sources identify these trials as:

• Health and Loss: Dealing with chronic illnesses or the death of loved ones.
• Economic Strain: The daily struggle to make ends meet and the anxiety surrounding job security and survival.
• Global Chaos: Witnessing natural disasters and the widespread suffering of people across the globe.

Looking at any one of these heart-wrenching trials for too long is enough to cause your faith to falter.

The Lesson of Peter

The scriptural foundation for this message is found in Matthew 14:22-33. Peter demonstrated incredible faith by being willing to physically step out of a boat into rough, stormy seas to walk toward Jesus.

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” — Matthew 14:28-31 (NIV)

Peter was performing the impossible as long as his eyes were on the Lord. However, the moment he focused on the wind, he became frightened and began to sink.This serves as a powerful reminder that while “the wind is going to blow,” our safety lies in our focus.

Where Our Help Comes From

Walking with Jesus is a continuous life journey. When your life feels like it is heading in the wrong direction or the trials become boisterous and wild, you must intentionally shift your gaze.

As Psalms 121:1-2 KJV reminds us, “I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth”.

Conclusion: Peace Be Still

We who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus have the right to call on Him directly in our moments of fear.He is always with us, ready to reach out His hand and guide us through every difficulty.

Don’t let the storms of life pull you down. Trust in His peace, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and speak to your soul: PEACE BE STILL!.
