God is Still in Love With You

Listen

We remember fondly a great lesson from a very gifted Bible teacher, Mitch. The lesson was in Zechariah. In this lesson, we see the angel of the Lord asking a question: Zechariah‬ ‭1‬:‭12(NIV) “Then the angel of the Lord said, “Lord Almighty, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and from the towns of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?”

The answer Zechariah received is surprising.  Zechariah‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬(NIV‬‬)   “Then the angel who was speaking to me said, “Proclaim this word: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I am very jealous for Jerusalem and Zion,”

‭‭God is jealous for His people, then and now.  God wants to reunite with His people. There was popular hit song in the 1980’s “Still in Love With You”, in which the singer Luther Vandross imagines that his lost love suddenly comes back “When I climb the stairs and turn the key, Oh, please be there, sayin’ that you’re still in love with me”

God has a similar vision. God sees Himself reconciled with His people. God further replies to Zechariah. Zechariah‬1‬:‭16(NIV‬‬)  Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there my house will be rebuilt. And the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”

What does God’s love look like? Jeremiah‬ ‭31‬:‭3‬(NIV‬‬) “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

God is still in love with you. Are you still in love with Him?

We Need Prayer and Fasting to Confront Evil

This blog is inspired by my wife Pastor June R. McIntosh, who preached a sermon this weekend to our congregation about “Why Faith?”. In the new year, we are going to examine different aspects of “Why Faith”.This is not a study questioning faith, but seeking to understand it in our lives.

The Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”
