God Believes in Us

God Believes in Us
Listen

We see in the book of Genesis that Jacob had come to a place in his life that he could go no further with his acts of deception. He had been living with his uncle Laban, but that situation ended in a dispute between Jacob and Laban.

So, the Lord instructed Jacob to go back to his home. On his way back home, Jacob met the Lord. During that conversation, the Lord gave Jacob a new name. Genesis 32:28 NIV “Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

We understand, that Jacob was trading his old name which meant “Trickster” or “Deceiver” for a new name which signifies that he was to be the father of the twelve tribes of Israel.

God changed Jacob’s name to reflect how He saw him. The world saw Jacob as a man full of deception, but God saw Jacob as the father of a nation. God believed in Jacob.

God also believes in us. He sees our potential and our purpose, and He loves us. No matter what, God never gives up on us, and always wants us to be who He has created us to be.

When you are discouraged, remember this story. Remember how Jacob moved from being someone who deceived others to someone who led a nation.

What has God called you to do? Just remember God is right there with you, every step of the way. Stay encouraged and let this song minister to you.

We love you
