Do We Find Purpose In Labor?

Today we will celebrate Labor Day in the United States. This is a public holiday that celebrates the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws and well-being of the country.

This year we are celebrating  at a cookout eating “Fat Burgers” off the grill, and playing board games with our friends.

A lot of us find our purpose in what we do. We find purpose in our work. I recently heard Dr. David Greer speak on the story of Jesus when he went to the temple at the age of 12. Luke 2:49 (NKJV) And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?

Jesus’ purpose was to be at the Temple that day. Dr. Greer points out that Jesus, who created the universe, put Himself in submission to the rules of this same universe. He became just like us. Jesus works in everyday things to give us purpose. He takes the natural world and provides supernatural meaning.

Dr Greer pointed out a quote from Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson said that the only time he felt alive was when he was singing. This was his purpose. What is your God given purpose? God’s Purpose is what makes us alive. Pick up God’s purpose.

Let’s understand God’s intent for our lives. God’s purpose here everyday, in our everyday lives.

Have a Restful and Safe Labor Day

We Need Prayer and Fasting to Confront Evil

This blog is inspired by my wife Pastor June R. McIntosh, who preached a sermon this weekend to our congregation about “Why Faith?”. In the new year, we are going to examine different aspects of “Why Faith”.This is not a study questioning faith, but seeking to understand it in our lives.

The Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”
