A Heart of Worship

The Heart of Worship
Listen

I loved reading the letter about worship during Covid-19.

This is just how I received it.

Mark Slomka, PSWD Associate District Supervisor, wrote the following letter to churches in San Diego after California Governor Newsom’s July 1st directives impacting all religious gatherings.

It was a reminder that worship comes in many ways. We can move closer to God in worship without the choirs, and music. He reminded us of a song that was very popular. It was definitely a favorite. It still is a great song. The lyrics listed below with a link to the song,     “A Heart of Worship.”

Thanks Pastor Slomka

When the music fades

All is stripped away

And I simply come

Longing just to bring

Something that’s of worth

That will bless your heart

I’ll bring you more than a song

For a song in itself

Is not what you have required

You search much deeper within

Through the way things appear

You’re looking into my heart

I’m coming back to the heart of worship

And it’s all about you,

It’s all about you, Jesus

I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it

When it’s all about you,

It’s all about you, Jesus

King of endless worth

No one could express

How much you deserve

Though I’m weak and poor

All I have is yours

Every single breath

I’ll bring you more than a song

For a song in itself

Is not what you have required

You search much deeper within

Through the way things appear

You’re looking into my heart

This blog is inspired by my wife Pastor June R. McIntosh, who preached a sermon this weekend to our congregation about “Why Faith?”. In the new year, we are going to examine different aspects of “Why Faith”.This is not a study questioning faith, but seeking to understand it in our lives.

The Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”
