One of our favorite Gospel groups, The Clark Sisters have a song:
Is my living in vain?
Is my giving in vain?
Is my praying in vain?
Is my fasting in vain?
Am I wasting my time?
Can the clock be rewind?
Have I let my light shine?
Have I made ninety-nine?
No, of course not
It’s not all in vain
No, no Lord, no
‘Cause up the road is eternal gain

As believers, we have the confidence that if we are in Christ now, we will be with Him in the next life. This is why we were disturbed recently at a comment that the actor William Shatner made (we paraphrase) “it is lonely at death because you are the only one in the room dying and then you don’t know where you are going”
If anyone out there knows Mr. Shatner, can you reach out to him and encourage him? We are not alone, and we do know where we are going. As believers, we are going home to be with the Lord. The Apostle Paul writes specifically about our hope in this life.
1 Corinthians 15:19-20 NLT “And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world. But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.”
Let’s encourage our friend Mr. Shatner and each other with this promise.
We love you
