What Would Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Do?

Listen

We first published this blog post 12 years ago, and we find it necessary that in the divisive climate perpetuated throughout the world today, that we publish it again with great urgency.

Reflecting on the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a reminder of what his life stood for to the world. Dr. King was a great man, and a leader in the truest sense of the word. His vision moved an entire nation towards equality. He simply reminded us of what the forefathers of this nation wrote in the U.S. Constitution.

In his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, he stood like a modern-day prophet, calling for Justice, and Equality. “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” As a nation, we moved from Jim Crow segregation, to equal voting rights, and opportunities for housing, jobs, and education, but the work is not done.

It is our prayer that in these days of division, and hatred, more voices can follow Dr. King’s example. Now that we have the responsibility of leadership, we have to continue to articulate Dr. King’s vision of freedom, continue to act upon that vision, and continue to fight for the equality for all people and cannot let the harsh words and the bitter division of our times distract us. We have work to do.

We Love you,
