We Love the Lord

We Love the Lord
Listen

As a friend of mine Rick likes to say “I Love You Lord, I Love You Lord, I Love You Lord”. This expresses our sentiments exactly. We are in love with God, the whole package. How can we say or feel any other way?

Last week, we looked at the story of David and Bathsheba.  But what makes David so remarkable is his heart for the Lord. For God Himself describes David: “After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’” (Acts 13:22 NIV)

David loved God and worshipped God. As singer/songwriter Fred Hammond said: “David was a worshipper” and he describes him in his song “When the Spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart, I will dance like David danced” https://youtu.be/0v4DBZW6RPM. When the ark of the covenant was being moved to Jerusalem, David rejoiced. “Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might,” (2 Samuel 6:14 NIV)

To truly worship the Lord, we must truly Love Him, and to truly serve the Lord, we must Love Him.  Service, obedience, and trust all come from Love. Jesus tells us that Loving God is our first priority: “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38 NIV)

Denzel Washington tells us about putting God first in his “Put God First” video: https://youtu.be/PkLaWIDobGE. Do you love the Lord? Have you put Him first in your life?

We love you
