Walking Worthy of your Calling

Walking Worthy of your Calling
Listen

Last week we talked about “Accepting Your Calling”. This week we are going to talk about what Apostle Paul called walking worthy of your calling. He wrote to many churches throughout his time as an Apostle. All with the emphasis on staying strong in the spirit. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 (NIV) “With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.”

When Apostle Paul was talking about living a worthy life of your calling, we believe he was speaking about the condition of your mind in the spirit. In Philippians 2:5 he spoke directly to having the same mindset as Jesus. Philippians 2:5 (NIV) “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:” Because what you allow yourself to think will control whether you fight against the flesh or give in to temptation. Admonishing the church to keep the “Same mindset as Christ Jesus” is a powerful and high expectation.

Today we are still under the call of Jesus. We must keep our mindset on him. If we fail, He is always there to forgive us. But, with the help of the Holy Spirit that was sent to give us power on the day of Pentecost and that lives within us; we can live a life with Jesus. Be strong, we must walk worthy of our calling. Don’t let someone, “Cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?” Galatians 5:7 (NIV) “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?”

It is much harder to be swayed to do something wrong if your mind is on the Lord. Apostle Paul was in prison when he wrote the Epistle to the Ephesians in the church in Ephesus telling them to “Live a life worthy of the calling.” Even though he was in a tough situation, he still kept ministering with his mind on Christ Jesus. Ephesians 4:1 (NIV) “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

This was not an easy time for Christians, nor is it easy now. We must be strong and hold to our faith.1 Peter 4:1 (AMPC) “So since Christ suffered in the flesh for us, for you, arm yourselves with the same thought and purpose [patiently to suffer rather than fail to please God]. For whoever has suffered in the flesh [having the mind of Christ] is done with [intentional] sin [has stopped pleasing himself and the world, and pleases God],”

May the mind of Christ through His Holy Spirit keep you and give you power as you walk in your calling. Amen.
