The Christmas Peace

Christmas Peace
Listen

Each year we take this trip back in time to celebrate the birth of Christ. Can you see the sheep scattered over the rolling hills of deep green grasses in the pasture. And look, the Shepherds are standing over there looking sleek in their robed garments and long hooked staffs. What are they talking about with such excitement? What just happened? Wow! Can you hear? An angel told them that the messiah was born! Not only one angel but an army of angles appeared and sang, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men (Luke 2:14 KJV).”

The Shepherds look astonished! Can you imagine how they must have felt? They took off to go see the baby messiah, the king who would, “bring peace on earth to those whom God is pleased (Luke 2:14 NLT).” Today, we experience the same peace that came on Christmas through the birth of Jesus. The angel announced it. The choir of angels sang it. The shepherds went to see the baby king who had brought it. People often say that they would like to bring peace to the world. Not realizing that it already arrived on that glorious night of Jesus’s birth. Jesus tells us that he is not taking His peace back when he leaves. Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart…. (John 14:27 NLT).”

I call it the, “Christmas Peace.” God’s Peace that the world can not give. It is with us even in tough situations. Let’s embrace His gift, let go of our worries, and continue to remind ourselves daily that we have been given peace. So, during this celebration and throughout the year, let’s sing like the angels and wake up the world to the knowledge that Jesus Christ gave the gift of peace. Peace that came with His birth, and Peace that Jesus left here on earth. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14 KJV.
