Hope Comes With Jesus

Happy New Year
Listen

Hope comes with Jesus. Hope entered behind the curtain. We are referring to the curtain that stood before Holy of Holies. The Ark of the Covenant resided behind the curtain. The curtain is where the high priest would go each year to pray that the sins of the people be forgiven.

The curtain tore from top to bottom when Jesus died on the cross. The scripture says. Matthew 27:50-53 (NIV) “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open.

Because Jesus died and was resurrected from the dead, the scripture says: Hebrews 6:19 (NIV) “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.”

What then is this Hope? John Wiley defines Biblical Hope starting with the Greek: The Greek word for “Hope” in the Bible is “Ellis”, which is often used to convey the idea of confident expectation and anticipation. It is the confident expectation that Jesus will save us from our sins, and we shall receive eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV) “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

It is the anticipation that our Lord and savior Jesus will be coming back again to gather all who have accepted Him. The Bible said that we are new in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Yes, the new is here! Christ Jesus the Messiah came to save the world. In the coming New Year, as decisions are being made, you might feel a bit hopeless. But all who are in Christ have been made new. All who are in Christ have hope. Remember that we always have hope. Keep trusting the Lord. Because, Hope comes with Jesus!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV)
