Enduring the Corona virus COVID-19 pandemic can be extremely difficult. It’s hard already, but In this day of uncertainty, things have gotten crazy. Everyday on the news, there is a new revelation about how contagious, or how long COVID-19 lasts in the air. It can get scary as we try to keep our loved ones safe. It is a trying time.
Recently, I gave a meditation on Ephesians 6. Talking about the battles we are having with spiritual forces, and putting on God’s armor. In my presentation, I visualized those Roman shields locking together to block the fiery arrows coming at them. I knew the Holy Spirit was saying to us “Lock your shields”. Perhaps we can’t come together physically, but by faith we can lock our shields against the enemy. We have to continue to pray not only for our families but for the world, until this disease is eradicated. We are looking to not only defeat the disease, but to defeat the fear and uneasiness that has filled the world.
In the news , we see that one person was dragged off a bus for not wearing a mask, and other people are being discriminated against for wearing masks. Perhaps your faith is being challenged as we see the destruction of our communities. Saints, we have to put our armor on because we are in a worldwide battle where people see Corona Virus before they see the person. Fear promotes a form of spiritual blindness where our need to survive closes our minds to reality. The Lord has told us that he has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love and of a sound mind. Fear cripples the mind and you become ineffective.
Just look back on the decisions you’ve made out of fear. We have to be careful because, this too is a spiritual battle. From the hospital workers, grocery store workers, firemen, all of the essential workers, and to those of us at home, the battle to save lives and not die is real. The grief from losing so many becomes unbearable. We have no choice but to put on God’s armor and stand our ground! Faith is still Faith! Truth is still Truth! God is still on the Throne and we have been given protection and power to fight! Corona virus is not in charge of God!
In this battle the one person coming in and out of our house was our nurse, and she came down with COVID-19. Throughout this situation we have had to deal with fear and uncertainty. We have also become one of the millions of unemployed in our nation. But God has supplied all of our needs. He has surrounded us with people to take care of our family. He has also provided a new place of employment that we hope to begin soon! Nothing that has come against us has been able to take hold.
Fortunately we didn’t get Covid-19 even though we were exposed in our home. We give thanks to God for his Grace and Mercy and know that many stories are not the same. We can’t explain all of the hurt that we see in the world but we can encourage you to keep looking for God’s heart. God’s heart is in His people, and His people are on the battlefield meeting the challenge. We can quote the Word of God, “Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18.
We can point you to the source of our help and we can pray: “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:13-18 NLT.
We pray Lord Jesus that you open the eyes of your people everywhere that we might smite the enemy with the sword of your Word. We pray that you strengthen our faith and that through your spirit we feel your peace to relieve any fear. Lord, when the food is off the shelves and toilet paper is nowhere to be found help us remember that we don’t have to be afraid. Let us be reminded that you take care of the sparrows and that you take care of us. Matthew 6:26. Lord, we know that you have seen what is ahead and that the battle has already been won. Help us to know that you have gone before us to lead the way. Lord, Help us stand victoriously as we wait and pray. Amen
We Love You
