As we enter the Lenten season, it is a time of remembrance and sacrifice. All over the world Christians are reflecting on what God has done for us. John 3:16 (NIV) reminds us of God’s immense love “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” By giving His only Son, God showed His deep love for us, even when we were still sinners
After meditating on the scripture, we felt a sense of overwhelming thanks that God loved us first. God’s love for us led Him to make the ultimate sacrifice of His son Jesus. Romans 5:8 (NIV) states it this way, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus expressed His heart with these words as he prayed to the Father, “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” John 17:22-24 (NIV)
What a demonstration of God’s love! It brings us to a question. Have you ever truly considered how much God loves you? During this time of reflection, listen to these two powerful songs and meditate on God’s love for you. May they bless you and deepen your love for Jesus.
