Family, we had the privilege this week to attend the FourSquare Church connection in Washington, DC. You can see the video on the link below:
https://www.foursquare.org/event/foursquare-connection-2024/
We had a great time in the Lord, visiting with old friends, new friends, and our fellow ministers and Pastors. We were encouraged by the Sermons, prayer, worship, and workshops. We are feeling refreshed, encouraged and renewed by the experience and by what we heard.
We will highlight our welcome celebration. During the welcome celebration we heard three main themes: Stay encouraged by reminding ourselves that “God is for Me”, Stay Focused, and “Stay the Course”.
Pastor Mark Chester (https://gbfoursquare.com) spoke from the story of Moses in Numbers 20:7-8 (NIV) “The Lord said to Moses, “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.”
But we see in the story that Moses struck the rock twice instead of simply speaking to the rock as God had instructed. Pastor Mark pointed that at this point Moses was probably suffering from “Burnout”, he was facing opposition from his congregation, and he had suffered the loss of Miriam, his sister, who had recently passed away.
Pastor Mark preceded this Bible reference sharing with us that we can stay encouraged by reminding ourselves that “God is for Me”. FourSquare President Randy Remington continued by encouraging the FourSquare family to stay focused through faith and obedience to Jesus who will direct our energies.
The guest speaker for the first night celebration, Dr. Doretha O’Quinn spoke to us about “Stay the Course, You are On Assignment”. Dr. O’Quinn started by singing the old hymn “Been Running for Jesus a Long Time, and I’m not Tired Yet”. She pointed out that we need to pursue our assignment in spite of obstacles, and with energy and fortitude.
Dr. O’Quinn shared three principles:
1) Know who you are, remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalms 139:15-17 (NIV) “My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!”
2) Know who your true enemy is (Self, Distraction, and Satan)
3) Know the Goal. Philippians 3:13 (NIV) “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,”
Family, we can agree with the words of that song: “Been Running for Jesus a Long Time, and I’m not Tired Yet”. In fact, Dr. O’Quinn recommended this YouTube link: https://youtu.be/0yliLqLdXa0?si=kfgLoTU9VSnnc7gC
