Do I Really Understand?

“The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?” Proverbs 20:24 NLT
Has anything happened in your life lately that you have had to stop and say, “I really don’t understand.” This might be your thoughts all the time. Perhaps you feel lost just by waking up each morning. Nothing makes sense about your life and you really don’t understand why. Today’s verse tells us not to try and understand everything. If you trust the Lord then allow him to direct you to the right path. We don’t know the complete story of our lives, but God knows exactly what is going on. The job, school, church, college, bills, children, marriage, and many more concerns are directed by the Lord for people who trust Him.

He has given us the ability to freely make choices. We have the option of not depending on ourselves, but letting Him guide our lives daily. The question is do I really understand? The answer for most Christians is no. Do we trust that the Lord understands? We each have to check our hearts and actions to see if we are trusting God. If not, try seeking God’s will for your life. If so, keep on listening in order to stay on the right path. It’s a great thing to depend on the Lord. The song writer wrote, “One day at a time Lord Jesus that’s all I’m asking of you, and ‘Lord for my sake teach me to take one day at a time’.”

Carrie Underwood sang about when you just have to throw your hand up in the air and let, “Jesus take the Wheel.” This song is about young lady whose car hit black ice and was spinning out of control. She took her foot off of the break and said, “Jesus take the wheel.” She and her child were saved (source: Wikipedia). The song reminds us that all we have to do is trust God. We don’t have to walk through life alone. Jesus is with us all the time. The Word instructs us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
