‘and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”’

McCartney explains that he was inspired by the Civil Rights movement in the 1960’s, and he came to the thought he would write a song that would inspire black women who were going through the Civil Rights struggle. In England, the word for girl is “Bird”.The lyrics tell us:

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Many of us are waiting for someone to put back the broken pieces of our lives. There are three things I want to tell you:

  1. There is only one person who can put together all the pieces of your life.
  2. God knows all about you, from the time you were a baby up to now.
  3. God wants to be Lord of your life.

You are not on this journey alone. There are people around you that need to know that God is real in your life. You need to let them join you on your journey. You need to take others with you on your journey

We have a destination. I will compare our destination to being on a D.C. Metro bus. When you are on the bus and looking at the people in the cars, it appears that you all are going in the same direction. But you don’t have the same destination. The people on the bus have trusted their destination to the bus driver.

Jesus has been waiting for this moment. He is waiting for you to trust Him with your destination. He knows all about you and He is waiting for you to give Him everything in your heart..
