The Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Listen

In light of recent events, and as we take to the streets, we hold our heads high. We have a righteous cause. We are seeking freedom, equality, justice, and the right to speak freely against injustice. However, we need to seek guidance and encouragement from the words of Dr. King. On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.In this speech, Dr. King encouraged us on how to respond to those who seek to inflict force on us while we seek freedom and justice.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.”

Dr.King went on in his speech to quote the prophet Isaiah (Isa 40:4-5)
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

We are praying and working for the day when we will all see justice prevail together.

We Need Prayer and Fasting to Confront Evil

This blog is inspired by my wife Pastor June R. McIntosh, who preached a sermon this weekend to our congregation about “Why Faith?”. In the new year, we are going to examine different aspects of “Why Faith”.This is not a study questioning faith, but seeking to understand it in our lives.
