He’s Right There

Listen

Before we discuss what it means to be connected to God, I want to give you an example of what it looks like to be connected with God. The door button on our built-in microwave broke. I researched a way to either fix, or replace it. But, because the microwave was older, and no longer being sold, it was not possible to replace the door button. This was painfully obvious after I spent money to order a microwave door button that didn’t fit.

After a few weeks of wrestling with this issue, I was leaving the house for work, when I saw that our neighbor had put his microwave on the trash pile. (We live in townhouses that were built at the same time, so the builder equipped them with the same kitchen equipment). So, I ran to my neighbor’s front door, and asked him what was going on with his microwave. He told me it quit working, so I asked if I could have the door button from the front. He agreed, so I took the door button which fit perfectly on my microwave, and fixed our microwave.

Throughout this experience, I never lost the feeling that God was involved and intervening along the way. God worked out everything, including the timing of my neighbor putting out the trash. It was all God’s timing. I praised and acknowledged God!

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15:4 (NIV)
