On this morning of thanks, we recount the ways in which God has so richly blessed us. 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
In our book collection, we have a prayer and photo collection called Standing In The Need Of Prayer, by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black culture, the New York Public Library. This book describes our collective experience in prayer. As Coretta Scott King states in the foreword of the book, prayer has been “Our great sustainer of hope…”
It is through prayer, not only prayers for deliverance, but prayers of Thankfulness that God has sustained us even through the worst of times. In this marvelous collection of prayers and poems, we find this:
“My Joys Mount As Do The Birds”
Lord, I am happy this morning.
Birds and angels sing, and I am exultant.
The universe and our hearts are open to your grace.
I feel my body and give thanks.
The sun burns my skin and I thank you.
The breakers are rolling toward the seashore,
The sea foam splashes our house,
I give thanks.

You might also find this composition encouraging as well: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, The Unsung Collective, recomposed by Max Richter. What is most striking about this video, is the people. God has brought them all together to perform such a moving piece of classical music. You will enjoy.
