Last week our HeartVision church family got together to have a birthday celebration. One of the advantages of having a small group of believers is that we can all get together at one time. This is awesome for me. I love the idea that a group of Christian friends can get together to share their experiences and challenges with life, work, family, and kids. I also really enjoy this as a Pastor because it also comes with a great deal of wisdom that I can receive. Usually, Pastors are in front of congregations preaching, teaching, and ministering, but how often do we get a chance to just exchange encouragement. Thank you, family!
This year, our HeartVision Family is focusing on Hope. God has given us Hope. We have been spending time studying and sharing on the subject of Hope. In the scripture below, we see Jesus demonstrating the fulfillment of Hope in the story of the ten men who were lepers. Luke 17:12-16 (KJV) “And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”
This story demonstrates the source and authority of Hope. The men who were lepers addressed Jesus as their master. The lepers were putting themselves in a position of obedience to Jesus by calling him “Master”, This posture of obedience is important for our hope, because our hope comes from God. God is the source and the fulfillment of our Hope. Romans 15:13 (NLT) “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
