When we were kids, we had this thing we called “halfsies”. That is, if someone got something that we wanted like candy, we would call “halfsies”. Then they would have to share with us half of whatever they had.
I’ve noticed that we do this with God. We want to take care of the part of the problem that we think we can handle, and we give God the part we can’t handle. God is not interested in “halfsies” You need to trust God with the situation, which means you need to give God the whole situation.
Let’s be clear, when you give someone something, they don’t expect you to take it back (e.g. Christmas presents, birthday presents, etc.). Why would we treat God any differently? When you give God your life, you give Him your situations. Don’t take them back. God is not going to have His time wasted. If you want to go ahead and solve it then you try to solve it. God is interested in total trust and total commitment.
We see this in the Book of Matthew. (Matthew 4:18-20 KJV) And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
This is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible. They left all and followed Him. They dropped everything: Their nets, their families, everything. Jesus is only interested in total commitment and total trust.
God will do anything for us out of Love. Parents are not objective about their kids, and in some respects, God is not objective about us. He is always looking to bring us into relationship and show us His love. Trust God today.
